Dorothy L. "Dot" (McCabe) O'Toole, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at The Lighthouse Nursing Home in Revere following an extended illness. She was 90 years old.
Dot was born in Boston. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School. Dot dedicated her adult life to taking care of her husband and children. Dot was a member of The Old Charlestown Schoolgirls Association, The Daughters of Isabella # 1 and The Golden Age Senior Center of Charlestown.
Dot is the beloved wife of the late Thomas F. O'Toole. She is the devoted mother of Daniel F. O'Toole and his wife Phyllis of Wisconsin, Retired Boston Police Deputy Superintendant Robert F. O'Toole and his wife Dorothy of Saugus, Shannon M. Tolley of Weare, New Hampshire and the late Thomas F. O'Toole Jr. She is the loving Grandmother of Shawn, Tim, Colleen O'Toole, Gil and Same Tolley, John Lappley and Kathy Gile and her 11 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of Rose Lyman of Charlestown and the late Helen Burhoe, Catherine Muzzrole, Mary Walsh, John, Frank, Joseph, Bernard and Cornelius McCabe.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Dot's Funeral on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m.
