Ronald J. Almeida, 75

Dateline: Norton, MA

Ronald J. Almeida, 75, of Norton formerly of Taunton passed away in the presence of his loving family on Monday May 3, 2010 at the Longmeadow Nursing Home in Taunton. He was the beloved husband of Maureen C. (Casey) Almeida to whom he was wed for 34 years.
Born in Taunton, MA on February 19, 1935 he was a son of the late John and Sadie (Linears) Almeida. Ronnie grew up and was educated in Taunton, and was a 1953 graduate of Taunton High School.
A retired Automobile Salesman, Mr. Almeida had worked for over 15 years at the former Poirier Oldsmobile Dealership in Taunton prior to retiring. He had formerly been employed as a Facilities Electrician at Raytheon in Dighton.
Ronnie’s passions in life were boats and cars. His favorite times spent were those with his family aboard his boat, the “Via Com Dues” taking in the beauties of the Mount Hope Bay. He was extremely meticulous by nature and it showed in the way he dressed and maintained his boat, and cars throughout the years.
He especially enjoyed dining out, his favorite destinations being seafood restaurants. His grandchildren were very important to him and he also possessed a special love for his dogs . Ronnie had made his home in Norton for over 30 years.
His family would like to extend their gratitude and love to the wonderful staff at Longmeadow Nursing Home for years of excellent care and love.
In addition to his wife Maureen, he is survived by his devoted children Dwayne Almeida of Raynham, Brian Almeida of Taunton, Kate Racca and her husband Dennis of Merrimac, Colleen Blithe of Norton, Richard Blithe, Jr. of West Palm Beach,Florida and Deborah Tylke and her husband Dr. James Tylke of Jupiter, Florida. He was the brother of Joyce Curry and her husband Bob of Berkley and is also survived by his cherished 10 grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
At the family’s request services and burial will be private. Visiting hours have been omitted and those wishing may remember Ronnie with a donation made in his memory to The Activity Department of the Longmeadow Nursing Home, 68 Dean St., Taunton, MA 02780.
