
Mr. William Pangburn, a longtime resident of Lawrence and beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Logan) Pangburn died at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen on May 2, 2010. He was 93 years old.
Born in Lawrence on January 11, 1917, he was the son of the late William and Anne (Knowles) Pangburn. Mr. Pangburn was a graduate of AB Bruce School and Lawrence High School. He was a WWII Army veteran, entering the service at Boston, on March 7, 1941 and receiving his honorable discharge from Ft. Devens on November 15, 1945. While in the service, Mr. Pangburn was at the Battle of the Bulge and had attained the rank of 1st Sergeant. He was awarded several citations, including the American Defense Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon and a Bronze Star, for his service. He had been employed as a mail carrier in Lawrence and North Andover by the US Postal Service for many years.
Mr. Pangburn was the father of William Pangburn, Jr. of Salisbury, Phylis Eastman and her husband Allen of Methuen, James Pangburn of Lawrence, Kathy Ann Lovette of Methuen and the late Bruce Pangburn, grandfather of Kristine Boisvert, Kerri Healy, Katy Eastman, James Pangburn, Raymond Lovette, Keith Middlemiss, Scott Middlemiss, Carly Connors, Ashley Hardy, Amanda Forisso and the late Jeffrey Middlemiss and nine great-grandchildren.
His funeral service was held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, Saturday, May 8, at 10 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Calling hours were held on Friday, May 7, from 5 to 8 PM. Burial will be in Bellvue Cemetery, Lawrence. Donations in William's memory may be made to the Fisher House Boston, P.O. Box 230, S.
