Obituary

Philip R. Fournier, 84, of Litchfield, NH, died Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH. Mr. Fournier was born in Livermore Falls, ME on January 12, 1926, a son of the late Louis and Yvette (LeBel) Fournier. He was a resident of Litchfield for the past four years, formerly living in Gilford, NH and Andover, MA. Mr. Fournier was a WWII Navy veteran and participated in the D-Day Invasion at Omaha Beach. He had been self employed as an insurance adjuster. Mr. Fournier also owned and operated the Mariah Atwood Inn in Franklin, NH with his wife Irene. He was an avid skier and had been a ski instructor at Gunstock in Gilford. Mr. Fournier also enjoyed photography, bird watching, and was an amateur water colorist.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Irene (Stylianos) Fournier of Litchfield, a daughter, Denise Monroe of Litchfield, a granddaughter, Jill Monroe of Methuen, MA, a grandson, Thomas Fournier of Raymond, NH, a great-grandson, Jared Kondrat of Methuen, two sisters, Rachel Hamel of Manchester, and Suzanne Hedrick of Nobleboro, ME. He was predeceased by two sons, Philip L. Fournier in 1992 and David T. Fournier in 2003.
Calling hours were held on Sunday, May 2nd from 2 - 4pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday at 10:00am at the Blessed Sacrament Parish, 14 Elm St., Manchester. Burial will be in the Pinelawn Memorial Park in Farmingdale, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
