Obituary

HAMLET: Mr. William Maynard James, 86, of 696 Boyd Lake Road, Hamlet, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010 in his home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:oo PM on Sunday, May 2, in the Bobby Lammonds Memorial Chapel at Russell-Marks Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Wilkes officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.

A son of the late Lonnie and Eunnice Billingsly James, William was born in Wadesboro on November 7, 1923. He served in the US Navy in World War II and went on to serve as a longshoreman in the Coast Guard. Upon fulfilling his service he worked as a route driver for Coca-Cola Bottling Company. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Leah L. James earlier this year, a daughter, Dian James, and two grandsons Jeremy Kyle Parker and Michael Frank.

He is survived by four sons, Mike James of St. Helens, OR, Mike Williams, II, of Hamlet, Robert 'Buddy' James of Rockingham, Gary Marcott of Lewiston, ID; three daughters, Gloria James of St. Helens, OR, Dian Fernandez of Hoffman, Gayle Williams of Cordova; a brother, Robert James of Hamlet; 22 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7-9:00 PM at Russell-Marks Funeral Home.
