Mrs. Rachel Shelton Vaden, age 82, of Westfield, widow of the late Grady Odell Vaden passed away early Wednesday morning April 28, 2010 at her sons home. Mrs. Vaden was born in Surry County on October 14, 1927 to the late Luther and Annie Beasley Shelton.
Mrs. Vaden was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She worked and retired from Armtex and was a member of Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
Mrs. Vaden is survived by two loving children and spouses, Rev. Roger and Maybin Vaden and Gloria and Don McQuinn both of Westfield; seven grandchildren, William, Dillon and Clayton Vaden, Donnie, Scotty McQuinn, Heather Gonzalez and Pricilla Niten; thirteen great grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Luther Ed and Norma Shelton of Flint, MI; one sister and brother-in-law, Lolene and Bill Snow of Toast, NC.
Mrs. Vaden was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one daughter Jo Ann Niten, one sister, Betty Smith.Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 30, 2010 at Cox-Needham Chapel at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Roger Vaden and Rev. Luther Shelton officiating with interment to follow in the Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 29, 2010 from 7-9 PM at Cox-Needham Funeral Home and other times at Rev. Roger Vaden’s home on Lynchburg Road. Cox-Needham Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain (www.coxneedham.com) is assisting the Vaden family.
