Mary L. (Camara) Mesquita, 84 of Methuen, MA formerly of New Bedford died October 23, 2003 at the Nevins Rehabilitation Center in Methuen.
She was the wife of the late Nestor X. Mesquita and daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Medeiros) Camara.
Mrs. Mesquita was born in St. Michael, Azores and lived in New Bedford most of her life before entering the nursing home in Methuen in 2003.
She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church.
Mrs. Mesquita and her late husband owned and operated Mesquita's Pharmacy on Purchase St. in New Bedford for over 30 years until closing in 1983.
Mrs. Mesquita was the former president, vice-president, treasurer and member for over 15 years of the Plum Tree Shakers Investment Club. She was a volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital since 1995 knitting baby clothes and volunteered at the Sacred Heart Nursing Home for many years.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband throughout Europe, the Caribbean and had visited each state in 2 cross country trips of the United States.
Survivors include her son, David R. Mesquita, and his wife Pamela, of Andover, MA; 3 grandchildren, John Mesquita, Andrew Mesquita and Phillip Mesquita, 2 great-grandchildren, John Eric Mesquita and Emma Rose Mesquita.
She was the mother of the late Charles A. Mesquita.
