Obituary

Leon J. Tessier Jr. 77, of Woonsocket, died Sunday in Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of Therese (St. Germain) Tessier. Together, they would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on April 26th. He was born in Central Falls, a son of the late Leon and Irene (Chartier) Tessier. Mr. Tessier is a Korean War veteran and was a lab technician for Tek-Nor Apex in Pawtucket for thirty six years before retiring in 1994. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by a son , Donald L. Tessier of CO, and two daughters; Susan Tessier-MacKenzie and her husband Ronald of Woonsocket, and Denise Guy and her husband Alan, also of Woonsocket, and two grandchildren; Michelle Tessier and Alexander MacKenzie. He is also survived by four sisters; Jacqueline Lafontaine of Central Falls, Cecile Picard of WA, Jeannette St. Germain of N. Smithfield, and Lucille DeWire of Cumberland. He was also the father of the late Michael Tessier, and brother of the late Fernand Tessier.

His funeral will be held Thursday at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Precious Blood Church, Carrington Ave. Woonsocket. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: VNS of Greater Woonsocket, 6 Blackstone Valley Place, Ste 515, Lincoln, RI 02865. Visiting hours are Wednesday 4-7 PM.
