Greenville, RI - A. Pauline Krukonis, formerly of Sudbury, MA, entered into eternal life on April 22, 2010. Polly, as she was always known, was born in Nashua, NH. She was the daughter of the late John and Amelia (Bakanauskas) Krukonis of Worcester, MA. She leaves a first cousin in Lithuania and several second and third cousins in the United States and Europe, in addition to dear friends. Polly graduated from Worcester Classical High School and was a member of Radcliffe College, Class of 1943. In 1961 she received a Master of Science degree from Boston University. She was employed by Norton Company early in her career and as a physicist at the Air Force Research Laboratory in Bedford, MA, from which she retired in 1985. Polly was a scholarly scientist who spent many years devoted to the study of the Aurora Borealis and published much of her work in scientific journals.
A graveside service will be held at Hope Cemetery, Worcester, MA, on Thursday, May 6, at 10:30 a.m. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to a charity of your choice. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester is directing arrangements.
