Louise (Vercellone) Valsoano, 99, of New Bedford died Tuesday April 20, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Biagio Valsoano.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Castellina) Vercellone, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, where she was the former organist and choir director.
Mrs. Valsoano was a member of the Italian-American Women's Club, St. Francis of Assisi Senior Citizens Club, St. Francis of Assisi Ladies Guild, and St. Luke's Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include two daughters, Elaine C. Lancaster of Dartmouth and Marianne Morin and her fiance David Pereira of Assonet; three grandsons, James M. Lancaster, Timothy J. Lancaster, and Jeffrey G. Morin; and six great-grandchildren, Kyle, Kathryn, Jacob, and Abigail Lancaster, and Madison and Mitchell Morin.
She was the mother-in-law of the late James A. Lancaster, and sister of the late Baptist J. Vercellone and Mary Belli.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday morning 9:30-10:30 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
