Mr. Edward Lee Jackson, age 76, of Mount Airy passed away on April 20, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Jackson was born in Surry County on March 20, 1934 to the late Rev. Joseph Tildon and Mary Magaline Williams Jackson. Mr. Jackson was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. We loved daddy dearly and he will be missed. Edward worked and retired from Hooker Furniture Factory and was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Jackson is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Patsy Coone Jackson; four daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Ron Manning of Virginia Beach, VA, Joan Jackson of Pilot Mountain, Leslie and Otis McCraw II of Winston-Salem and Rebecca J. Edwards and fiancé Brian McCraw of Mount Airy; one son and daughter-in-law, Dana and Terrie Jackson of Virginia Beach, VA; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother and sister-in-law, Woodrow and Joy Jackson of Mount Airy.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 23, 2010 at Shining Light Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with Rev. Elmo Hiatt and Pastor Dean Eaton officiating with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 22, 2010 from 6-8 PM at Cox-Needham Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughters, Leslie McCraw of Winston-Salem and Rebecca Edwards of Mount Airy.
