Obituary

Charles Joseph Wright, 77, a resident of Londonderry, NH passed away Friday April 16, 2010 at his home. Charles was born June 2, 1932 in New York, NY to the late Charles D. and Helen (Watson) Wright. He served his country proudly during the Korean War in the Navy, earning the European Occupation Medal. He had a distinguished 27 year career in law enforcement and retired from the Belmont, MA Police Department in 1987 after serving the community for 20 years. While a member of the police department, he was the founder of the Belmont Police Athletic League, and was an avid supporter even after his retirement. He was also a drug and alcohol counselor for 10 years. Mr. Wright was a member of the Londonderry American Legion Post # 27. Charles enjoyed his family, the NY Giants, and the Boston Red Sox.
He leaves his loving wife of 50 years, Kathleen F. (Lennon) Wright, along with their 6 children, Laureen Aldrich and her husband Kenrick of London, England, Charles Wright and his wife Renee of Medway, MA, Colleen Thomas of Old Orchard Beach, ME, Sean Wright of Derry, NH, Margaret Wright and her special friend, Michael Pensavalli of Stoneham, MA and Robert Wright and his wife Nancy of Londonderry, NH. He also leaves his 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild, as well as several nieces and nephews. Charles was predeceased by his two siblings, Evelyn Penney and William Wright.
The funeral was held Tuesday April 20, 2010 at 10am in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd. Londonderry. The interment followed in the New Hampshire State Veteran's Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
