Obituary

Charles E. “Bud” Feeney, 79, passed away April 12th at his home.

He is survived by his wife, June (Russo) Feeney; two daughters, Victoria (Peter) Brand and Gayle (Gaylen) Hunter; three grandchildren, Rebecca Brand, Jessica & Luke Hunter; his half-sister, Sister Almut Esser , and a niece Carol Pasicka. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Toni Feeney, and a half-brother, William Brown.

Charles was born February 25, 1931 in Mystic. He attended Broadway School and Stonington High School where he was a member of the track team. He was also an all star first baseman for the Mystic twilight league.

He enlisted in the Army in 1951 and earned the rank of Sergeant First Class. He received several letters of commendation for devotion to duty and exceptional leadership during his tour overseas.

He served 18 years as a building inspector for the Town of Groton. Previously, he worked as a carpenter in the Mystic area. He was a member of the American Legion, past member of the CT Building Official Assoc., the Building Official and Code Administration, and the Town of Groton Employees Assn.

As an avid reader, he enjoyed westerns, and most enjoyed history, especially local history. He was a fan of the UCONN women’s basketball team and the Boston Red Sox. Above all, he loved his wife , children, and grandchildren. He will be remembered as a generous, giving person.

His family will gather for a private service with military honors at Elm Grove Cemetery.
