Irene R. (Marque) Walsh, 81, of Norwood formerly of Mansfield and Hyde Park passed away on Monday April 12, 2010 in the presence of her loving family at home. She was the beloved wife of the late William E. Walsh to whom she was wed for 52 years at the time of his death on June 20, 1999.
Born in Boston, MA on March 9, 1929 she was a daughter of the late Harold and Mary (Kasper) Marque.
Irene grew up in the Hyde Park section of Boston and was educated in Hyde Park schools. A resident of Norwood for the past 2 years, she had formerly made her home in Mansfield for 13 years. While living in Mansfield she had attended St. Mary’s Church.
A dedicated homemaker to her adoring family, Irene loved family gathering and always held a special closeness to her dear sisters.
Her favorite times of the year were the holidays, especially Thanksgiving and decorating her home for the Christmas season. She enjoyed tending to her beautiful flower gardens and will always be remembered for her exceptional cooking skills.
She is survived by her devoted children Donna J. Aitchison of Norwood, Joyce L. Gerraughty and her husband John of Mansfield and Ronald J. Walsh and his wife Jean of Abington. She was the dear sister of Jean Ayan of Walpole of and the Helen Stevens and Ann Malone. Irene is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Christine, Colleen, Caitlin, Ronny, Michael and Kenny, great grandsons Cole and Camden, many nieces and nephews and was anticipating the arrival her third great grandson.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday April 16th at 8:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday April 15th from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
