KERN, Edward F. Jr. Of Mission Hill, April 10, 2010. Passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Joan A. (McCaig). Loving Father of Edward J. Kern and his wife Beth of Hopkinton, Stephen F. Kern and his wife Susan of Newton, Michael V. Kern and his wife Christine of West Roxbury, and John H. Kern and his wife Gloria of Mission Hill. Son of the late Edward F. Kern Sr. and Alice M. (Walsh). Brother of Alice M. Kern of West Roxbury, and Harold J. Kern and his wife Anne of Brookline. Devoted “Papa” of Brittany, EJ, Kenny, Andrew, Caroline, Sarah, Matthew, Erin, and Katie. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St., Thursday April 15th at 9 am. followed by a funeral mass in the Basilica Of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Mission Church) at 10:30. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 pm. Relatives and friends invited. Interment MA National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:45 pm. Edward had 34 years of service as a Master Sergeant with Co. F 126 Aviation Regiment ARNG of MA, and was a precision machinist for Polaroid, MIT, Kern Co. Inc. and MBCR. Member of the Mission Hill American Legion Post # 327 and the BPO Elks Boston Lodge # 10.
