Obituary

ASHVILLE, NY: Charles E. Barry, Jr., age 79, a resident of Ashville, NY, formerly of Tewksbury, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at the Erie VA Medical Center, in Erie, Pennsylvania.
He was the husband of Patricia (Davis) Barry, who passed away on November 11, 1986.
Born in Lynn, MA on January 21, 1931, he was the son of the late Charles E. Barry, Sr. and the late Pauline (Bartlett) Barry.
Mr. Barry was raised in Lynn, and attended Lynn schools.
In 1952, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, and served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Barry was awarded several decorations for his military service including the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
Mr. Barry resided in Tewksbury for 24 years until moving to Ashville, NY in 1998.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed in the Facilities Maintenance Department at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Administration Hospital in Bedford, MA, where he worked for several years.
During his retirement years, he enjoyed many activities including; painting, gardening and spending time at the ocean.
He is survived by one son, David Barry and his wife Joanne of Raymond, NH; two daughters, Deborah Levesque and her husband James of Ashville, NY and Darlene Ippolito and her husband David of Bradford, MA; one brother, William Barry and his wife Joyce of Hampstead, NH; four sisters, Gloria Huggins of Methuen, Marilyn LeBlanc and her husband Ronald, Alice Cronin and Laura Hudson all of Lynn; five grandchildren, Bryan Barry, Lori Ippolito, David Ippolito, Jr. Christine Levesque and Matthew Levesque.
Mr. Barry was the father of the late James E. Barry and brother of the late Barbara Aikens.

Calling hours Wednesday, April 14th, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. A Prayer Service will be offered on Thursday, April 15th at 11 O'clock at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Tewksbury Cemetery.
