WORCESTER-Straty Efstration, 83, passed away Thursday, April 8 in Holy Trinity Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
He leaves his brother, Menelaos “Mike” Efstratios and his wife Marlene of West Boylston; his sister, Statia Zoulas and her husband Steve of Leicester and many nieces and nephews. His brother, Stephen Stratton died in December.
He was born in Worcester the son of John and Chrysoula (Stefanou) Efstration and lived his whole life in Worcester. Mr. Efstration worked at Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital for 18 years before retiring. He also worked at the former Whalen Restaurant, Coach & Six Restaurant and Nick’s Grill. He was a lifelong member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and worked many of the Greek Festivals in the kitchen. Straty enjoyed reading especially The National Geographic. He was an avid Red Sox fan and also enjoyed walking and playing the harmonica.
Visiting hours will be Sunday, April 11 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. The funeral service will be on Monday, April 12 at 10:00 AM at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell St. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery.
