Obituary

Clifford P. Westberg, Sr., a longtime resident of Plymouth, died on April 8, 2010, after a courageous battle with illness. He was the beloved husband of Nancy (Birro) Westberg, of Plymouth and the son of the late John and Irja Westberg, of Quincy. Cliff was the proud father of Clifford P. Westberg, Jr. and wife, Kari, Steven R. Westberg, and wife, Alison, of Plymouth. He was the son in law of Anthony and Mary Birro, of Plymouth and the brother in law of the late Richard Birro. He is also survived by his brother Donald Westberg and wife Janice, of Rockland and four sisters, Irma Richards of Quincy, Shirley Butterfield and husband Thomas of Carver, Norma Martin of Pembroke, Bonnie Damore and husband William, he was the brother in law of Mary Westberg and the brother of the late Peter Westberg. Cliff had many nieces, nephews, and friends. "Gumpa" leaves five grandchildren, Connor, Katie, Maxwell, Charlotte, and Reese Westberg, all of Plymouth. Clifford was born and raised in Quincy and graduated from Quincy High school where he avidly played football and hockey. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam war, stationed in Stuttgart, Germany, in the U.S. Army. Cliff was a member of the Seaside Club and John Alden Club of Plymouth. He loved his boat and being on the ocean, his home, the fun around the pool, his country, the Patriots, the Red Sox, politics, and a great debate with anyone on any subject. But his priority was always his family and special times with his grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, April 11th, from 2pm to 6pm, at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 619 State Rd., Plymouth (Manomet). A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 12, at 12:00pm, at St. Bonaventure church in Manomet and burial will be at the Massachusetts Veteran's Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jordan Hospital, 275 Sandwich St, Plymouth, MA 02360 or to the Beth Israel Deaconness Transplant Institute, Lowry Medical Office Bldg, 7th Floor, Boston, MA 02215.
