Obituary

In Taunton, April 8, 2010 M. Gertrude Taylor, age 98 passed away in Marion Manor Nursing home after a brief period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Raymond A. Taylor. Gert was born in Taunton to her late parents John & Georgianna (Before) McRae. Gert was educated in Taunton schools and a graduate of THS class of 1929. She was employed at Grossman’s and Williams Lumber as a bookkeeper for 50 years of service. Gert was a member of the Queens Daughters, the former St. Joseph’s Church &Womens Guild now St. Andrew the Apostle Church, Red Cross Volunteer, Recipient of the Queen Anne Metal of Scouting and a past Girl Scout Leader. Gert enjoyed knitting, crocheting and doing word puzzles. She is survived by her daughter Jacqueline A. Smith and her husband Charles of Taunton. Her grandchildren Dr. Jonathan Smith & his wife Refen of Princeton, N.J., Francene Kemp & her husband Roland of Taunton, Betsy Wetherell & her husband Jason and Steven F. Smith & his wife Melinda of Lake Oswego, Oregon. She is also survived her four great grandchildren: Amanda Leigh Wetherell, Jake Eben Wetherell, Caroline T.K. Smith and Charlotte Rose Smith. She was pre deceased by her four brothers: John A. McRae, Howard J. McRae, Angus B. McRae and Albert H. McRae & four sisters: Eveline F. Spaulding, Alice G. Titus, M. Louise Heinig and Mary A. Hyland. Funeral services and burial is private at the convenience of the family. A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Taunton on Monday, April 12th at 9am. Arrangements are under the supervision of the O’Keefe-wade Funeral Home in Taunton.
