Charles E. Murphy died unexpectedly Friday morning at the VA Medical Center in West Roxbury. He was born in Brockton, son of Agnes L. (Thibeault) Gordon and stepson of the late William J. Gordon. He attended Brockton schools and was a graduate of Brockton High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the US Army with the 1st Cavalry and 1st logistical units as an Ammunition Storage Specialist. He had been employed as a carpenter for various companies in the area. He was a member of Club National, a life member of BOTM (Brotherhood of the Moose) and VFW. He enjoyed white water rafting, camping, woodworking, he especially enjoyed making canoe paddles.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen A. (Simmons) Murphy of West Bridgewater, his faithful dog Sasha Ruth, his mother Agnes Gordon of Brockton, two brothers Donald Murphy of Braintree and Timothy Murphy of Plymouth, NH, five sisters Agnes Fallon of Brockton, Joanne Murphy of Georgia, Hazel “Lulu” Gray of Brockton, Susan O'Brien of Bridgewater and Cynthia Prescott of Brockton, many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
