Obituary

Medora F. Forcier, 107, of Park Place, Woonsocket, died peacefully Easter Sunday morning at Landmark Medical Center with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Omer Forcier.
Born in St. Louis, P.Q. Canada, she was a daughter of the late Fortunant and Rosilda (Auger) Chauvin. She immigrated with her family to Woonsocket in 1915. She worked in the French Worsted mills for several years and then devoted her life as a homemaker. She was a lifelong communicant of Precious Blood Church. Medora had a special talent for baking and was affectionately known as the “neighborhood baker”. She also gave generously of her time through volunteer work with several organizations including the Fogarty Hospital.
Mrs. Forcier was a deeply caring person, her love for her family and people, as well as her appetite for hard work and her addictive sense of humor, will be always treasured by those who fondly remember her.
Medora felt especially blessed to have lived for over a century and been able to maintain her independence. Her longevity was recently recognized in the local media. Above all, she cherished welcoming each new generation of her family and passing on to them her legacy of love and devotion.
She was the mother of her daughter Hortense Drainville (wife of the late Roger R. Drainville) of Woonsocket, and her son Gerald P. Forcier, and his wife Judith (Cook) Forcier, of Port St. Lucie, FL. and the late Normand E. Forcier, and grandmother of the late Russell C. Drainville. Loving grandmother of 7, great-grandmother of 9, great-great grandmother of 1, and dear sister of 6 late brothers and sisters. She is also survived by several generations of nieces and nephews and their families.
Her funeral will be Wednesday at 9:00 am from the Menard Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Precious Blood Church, Carrington Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 5-8 pm.
