Doris S. Johnston, 73, a longtime resident of Windham, passed away Monday April 5, 2010 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Born in Peacham, VT to the late George and Arlene (Lackie) Swett, she was a longtime member of the Eastern Star.
Doris worked many different jobs during her professional career, including working for Fairbanks Morse in St. Johnsbury, VT, Romark Machines in Windham, NH, Mack’s Apple Orchard in Londonderry, NH, Centronics in Hudson, NH, New Hampshire Bank, which later became Citizens Bank, and most recently Herrington’s in Londonderry as a customer service representative until her retirement in 2002.
She leaves her beloved husband of over 54 years, Richard Johnston, along with their loving children, Darlene Rogers and her husband John of Charlestown, NH, and Dorene Carey and her husband Brett of Thetford, VT. She also leaves her grandchildren, Iantha Cassidy, Cady LeBlanc, Ashleigh Myrick, Aaron Jenkyn, Alexandra Myrick, Devon Carey her great grandson, Braden Martin and her siblings, Harry Swett and Donna Rae Kelly and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Frank Swett.
All services will be held privately at a later date and at the convenience of the family. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium are respectfully handling all the arrangements for the Johnston family.
