Obituary

Mary (Thomas) Joseph, 89, of New Bedford died Thursday October 16, 2003 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Norman Joseph.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Michael and Helen (Thomas) Thomas, she had lived in New Bedford for all of her life. She was a graduate of Holy Family High School.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Purgatory Church, where she was a member of Our Lady's Guild.

Mrs. Joseph had been the proprietor of Eddie's Dry Goods on Rivet Street.

Survivors include a son, Edward N. Joseph, and his wife Ninette, of Margate, Fla.; 2 brothers, Atty. Fred M. Thomas, and his wife Fernanda, and Atty. George M. Thomas, and his wife Rejeanne, all of New Bedford; a sister, Janet Lalor and her husband Walter of Ithaca, New York; 4 grandchildren, Angele Bentley, and her husband Jason, Helen Matta, and her husband Samir, Mary Ellen Joseph and Norman Joseph; 4 great-grandchildren, George, Sharbel, Chadi and Megan; a niece and 5 nephews.She was the sister of the late Arthur Thomas.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordSaturday October 18, 2003 at 8 AM.Divine Liturgy at Our Lady of Purgatory Church at 9 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Friday October 17, 2003 from 6-9 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
