Lillian Grace (Powell) Zapora, 85, of Nashua, NH died Thursday April 1, 2010 at the Greenbriar Terrace, Nashua. Mrs. Zapora was born in Boston, MA on November 9, 1924, daughter of the late Alice Kind and Fredrick Powell. She was the loving wife of the late Bernard M. Zapora, Sr. who died in 2000. She was a longtime resident of Hooksett and Winnisquam, NH, retiring to Orange City, FL with her husband Bernie. She enjoyed her family, knitting, crocheting, cross stitching and crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Washington Lodge Order of the Eastern Star, Hooksett Jaycee's, Hooksett Fire Department Auxiliary, Hooksett Grange, and supervisor of the voting check list in Hooksett.
Mrs. Zapora has lived with Alzheimer's Disease for 12 years, eight of which was spent at Greenbriar Terrace Healthcare where she has had wonderful caring and devoted nurses and aids taking care of her.
She was the loving mother of Darlene Beaudry and her husband Gerard of Londonderry, NH, Nancy Gecha and her husband John of Merrills Outlet, SC, Bernard M. Zapora, Jr. and partner Karen Bailey of Winnisquam, NH, and Daniel F. Zapora and his wife Kathy of Barre, VT, nine grandchildren, Deborah Nikias and partner Dan Scoffield, Stacey Elwell and husband Steve, Nicholas and Rachael Maznik, Bernard M. Zapora III and wife April, Stephen Zapora and fiance' Jill Thompson, Samuel Zapora, Kristina Zapora and Ashley Bailey, also six great-grandchildren, Teena Renee Nikias, Justin Peter Nikias, Samantha Elwell, Jacob A. Elwell, Brittney Elwell and Jacob G. Elwell. She also leaves a sister, Florence Powell Hernandez of Florida, and a brother, Al Powell and his wife Alice of Texas.
Following cremation, private burial will take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Goffstown, NH. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater NH Chapter, 1 Bedford Farms Dr., Suite 105, Bedford, NH 03110. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium of Derry and Londonderry, NH is handling arrangements.
