Charles Willis, departed this life at his home March 31, 2010, after a lengthy illness with his wife, Brenda, by his side. He was born May 6, 1956 to the late Browser Lake and Ionia Winters Willis in Charleston, MS. Also preceding him in death was his brother, Roosevelt Willis. Charles attended Charleston Schools becoming a graduate of the class of 1975. He worked as a truck driver for over 33 years with Allon Deliveries of Brownsville, TN. Charles was a member of New Town Missionary Baptist Church in Charleston, MS.
Funeral services are planned for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010 in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS, with Rev. Derrick Williams, Sr. officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will take place in New Town Cemetery in Charleston, MS.
He leaves to reflect on his precious memories his loving and devoted wife, Brenda Walton Willis, of 14 years; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Janie Shelton of Chicago, IL; a daughter, Natashia Gray of Cleveland, OH; four sons, Anthony Powell, Desmond Walton, and Roderick Walton, all of Chicago, IL, and Mario Island of El Dorado, AR; eight sisters, Mary (William) Edwards and Lawanda Wrenn, both of Charleston, MS, Erma Lake, Jill Lake, and Alice Lake, all of Atlanta, GA, Nell Lake, of Cincinnati, OH, Seretha Wrenn of Dalton, GA, and Teresa Jenkins of Jonesboro, AR; six brothers, James (Laverne) Lake, Jessie (Clara) Willis, and Dennis Willis of Charleston, MS, Andrew Lake of Cincinnati, OH, Leroy Lake of Milwaukee, WI, and Ezell (Shelia) Willis of Tacoma, WA; seven sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law, seven grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends. His gentle and easy going personality helped him find favor with all who came in contact with him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
