Helen Nye, age 95, passed away at her home on March 7, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Daniel Butler Nye and Emma C. (Willard) Nye. Helen is also predeceased by her 2 sisters; Thelma Nye Putney and Virginia Nye. Miss Nye was born and lived in Tientsin, China, where her father was a Missionary Dentist, until 1921 and lived in East Northfield for 3 years before moving to South Weymouth in 1924. She graduated from Weymouth High School and Simmons College. During World War II Helen worked at Bethlehem Steel in Quincy before becoming a Librarian at the Tufts Library in Weymouth prior to her retirement in 1984. A Memorial Service will be held at the Old South Union Congregational Chapel on Thursday April 8 at 1 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Helen’s memory to the Old South Union Congregational Church, 25 Columbian St. S. Weymouth, MA 02190 or the charity of your choice.
