Berit M. (Ytreland) Tveit, 72, of Fairhaven died Saturday March 27, 2010 at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late Olav Eriksen Tveit.
Born in Karmoy, Norway, the daughter of the late Sven and Olga (Olsen) Ytreland, she lived in Acushnet for many years before moving to Fairhaven two years ago.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Tveit was a member of the Sewing Circle at her Church. She enjoyed traveling, knitting, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include a son, Eric Tveit and his wife Seannine of Fairhaven; three daughters, Eva Tillett and her husband Andrew of Fairhaven, Ann Tveit of Riverdale, NJ, and Britt Days and her husband Don of Watertown; a brother Ivar Ytreland of Karmoy; three sisters, Olaug Hansen, Torun Skeie, and Sigrun Tveit, all of Karmoy; six grandchildren, Brian, Kirsten, and Eric Tillett, Sven, Cyril, and Ella Tveit; a niece, Melinda Fitzgerald of Acushnet; a nephew, Arstein Tveit of Fairhaven; and many nieces and nephews in Norway.
She was the sister of the late Aud Vea and Jon Ytreland.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 5-8 PM the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Community Nurse and Hospice Care, P.O.
