TAUNTON – Marita A. (Dame) Amaral, wife of the late Francis C. Amaral, died at Good Samaritan Hospital, Brockton on March 24, 2010.
She was 83.
Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick and Mary (Roderick) Dame.
Raised and educated in Middleboro, she moved to the Taunton area several years ago.
Mrs. Amaral was employed by Morton Hospital & Medical Center as a ward secretary, and also worked for the Mt. Hope Machinery Co.
She retired many years ago.
In her spare time, she enjoyed tending to her many gardens, and was a member of the Taunton Garden Club.
She also worked for several area flower shops.
Mrs. Amaral was a member of the MSPCA and an avid supporter of the Taunton Animal Care Facility.
She loved her many gardens and her beloved cat, Tobey.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Monday, March 29th at 11 a.m.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, March 28th, from 3 to 6 p.m.
Burial will be private at the MA National VA Cemetery in Bourne.
