Obituary

Mary, E. Almon,(Brennan), 79, died Sunday, March 21, 2010 at home surrounded by family and friends. She was the beloved wife of the late Peter F. Almon and the beloved mother of the late Peter J. Almon.

Born in Providence; she was the daughter of the late Jerome A. and Mary E. (Kelly) Brennan. Mary was the secretary/bookkeeper for St. Philip Church in Greenville for 22 years before retiring and she served as a Trustee for the Church until her death. Previously she was employed as an Executive Secretary at Nicholson File Co. Mary was a graduate of Blessed Sacrament Grammar School, St. Patrick’s High School and Bryant College from which she received an academic scholarship.

Mary lived in Greenville for 56 years and cherished her summers in Narragansett where she entertained family and friends at her cottage. She loved to read and solve crossword puzzles and was an avid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots. She will fondly be remembered as an amazing mother, grandmother and friend.

She is survived by her son, Christopher J. Almon of Narragansett, her granddaughter Cassidy E. Almon and her best friend, Horace Norcross, of Bridgewater, NJ. She also leaves many treasured nieces, nephews and friends.

Mary’s funeral will be held Friday at 9:00 a.m. from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 at St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Thursday 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Philip School, 618 Putnam Pike, Greenville, RI 02828
