Obituary

Worcester-William A. Wenho died, Tuesday March 23, 2010, at the U-Mass Medical Center following a brief illness.

Bill, also known as “Sonny” was born July 1, 1928 in Worcester. He was the son of Arvid and Selma
Wiik Wenho. Bill grew up on Bell Hill and following high school he enlisted in the Navy. He was a Fire Control Specialist, First Class and served in the WW II and Korean conflicts. He worked at the Town Talk Bakery of Worcester and then The New England Telephone Co until he retired. 1957 he married Estelle Maguire. Later in life Bill became an avid bird watcher/enthusiast and a member of The Friends of Quabbin. Bill enjoyed volunteering to help with the eagle and hawk counts.

Bill is survived by one son John and his wife Cheryl of Worcester, two daughters, Joan Holbrook & her husband Wayne of Madison FL, Ellen O’Hara & her husband Jeffrey of Graniteville, VT, three sisters, Viola Muir of Newport Richey, FL, Lillian Akerson of Bourne, Violet Gazal & her husband Arthur of Worcester, three grandsons Eric Holbrook & his wife Alicia of SC, Jason Williams of Worcester, Kevin O’Hara VT, six granddaughters Laura Coy and husband Frank of Whitinsville, Erin Holbrook of FL, Melissa Williams of ME, Katie Williams of Worcester, Allison and Holly Wenho of Worcester , four great granddaughters, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Estelle, daughter Susan Williams, grandson Daniel O’Hara and brother Richard Wenho.

A graveside service is planned for Friday, April 9, 2010, 11:30 a.m. at The Hope Cemetery, St. Worcester. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Friends of Quabbin, Inc., Quabbin Administration Building 485 Ware Rd. Belchertown, MA, 01007.
