Mrs. Eleanor Whitfield Anderson
DENTAL HYGENIST
North Augusta, SC – Mrs. Eleanor Whitfield Anderson, age 77 entered into rest on Monday, March 22, 2010 at National Health Care.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with the Reverend Brian LaFavor officiating. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Anderson was born September 1, 1932 in Montgomery County, Georgia and then moved to Augusta in 1939. She was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church and also attended Crawford Avenue Baptist Church. She graduated in 1950 from the Academy of Richmond County. Mrs. Anderson worked as a dental assistant and then as a dental hygienist for fifty years before retiring in 2004. She was instrumental in starting, planning, and organizing the Harrisburg Reunion for 25 years. Many of her childhood friends grew up and remained close and became known as the “Old Gang Lunch Bunch”. Mrs. Anderson had a passion and love for Edisto Island and beach where she went as often as possible to “get away” and relax.
Eleanor put up a valiant fight to the end, always saying “I will get better”.
Survivors include her mother, Juanita Whitfield; her brother, Duane A. Whitfield and wife Rita; her five nephews, James E. Whitfield, Duane A. Whitfield, II, Bradley F. Whitfield, Mark C. Whitfield, and Scott A. Whitfield; her two nieces, Wendi Capps and Melanie Sanders; her five great nephews; seven great nieces; two great-great nephews and her two great-great nieces.
Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her father Eddie P. Whitfield and her brother Wayne R. Whitfield.
The family wishes to thank Lois McCann Byers for her thoughtfulness and help to the end.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. Anderson’s nephews and Hugh Goodwin.

The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, March 24, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
