Robert J. Alarie, 70 of Old Greenville Rd. died Sunday at Milford Hospital. He was the husband of Theresa (Belanger) Alarie. Mr. Alarie was born in Woonsocket a son of the late John and Mary (Garakop) Alarie. He was a textile worker and worked for several area textile manufacturers, including Interface Fabrics retiring in 2006. Mr. Alarie served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
Mr. Alarie is survived by three sons Michael J. Alarie of New Dern, NH, James R. Alarie of Madison, LA, and Denis J. Alarie of Baltimore MD; a daughter Donna Gaudette of N. Smithfield, with whom he lived; four brothers John Garakop of Warren, Bruce Alarie of Bristol, Henry Alarie of Blackstone, Leo Alarie of CA; seven sisters Carol Maines of PA, Marlene Giguere, Eileen Fortin, Mary Alarie and Sandra Rattie all of Woonsocket, and Barbara Rozycki of Woonsocket and Denise Parker of TX; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was also the father of the late Richard J. and Robert J. Alarie, and brother of the late Thomas Alarie.
His funeral will be held Thursday at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in All Saints Church, Rathbun St. Woonsocket. Burial with Military Honors will be held in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. Visiting hours are Wednesday 5-7 PM.
