Obituary

Deborah Louise (Harris) Turnbull, 56, died March 23, 2010 after a twenty-one year struggle against breast cancer.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Frederick C. Turnbull and their two children, Jennifer Turnbull and Douglas Turnbull.

Deborah will be sadly missed by her mother Roberta Harris of North Carolina; her sisters Jane Madison (Laren) and Judy Coleman (Greg) both of North Carolina and her brother William T. Harris (Yorlenny) of Costa Rica. She was predeceased by her sister Anna Harris and her father William T. Harris. She leaves many dear and loving friends to mourn her passing. In addition Una & Jim Sullivan of Madison, CT, Mary Ellen Turnbull of Branford, CT and Douglas and Anne Turnbull of Monasterboice, Co. Louth, Ireland will hold her memory in their hears.

Deborah taught in the New London school system for 15 years at Jennings and Nathan Hale Elementary Schools. She received her bachelor's from Connecticut College and her masters in education from Southern Connecticut State College.

She attended Saint Patrick Church in Mystic, where in years past she participated in summer bible school. Deborah volunteered her time with the former Mary Elizabeth Nursing Home in Mystic and the Food Bank in New London.

Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Sunday March 28th from 1-3pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Patrick Church, East Main Street, Mystic on Monday March 29th at 12noon with Fr. Brian Romanowski, Pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Old Mystic.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Smilow Cancer Center at Yale New Haven at 20 York St. New Haven 06510.
