THOMAS - Bernice M. Thomas, 77, passed away Monday morning, March 22, 2010 at her Jacksonville residence. She was born December 14, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York and moved to the Yulee area of Nassau County in 1961. She moved to Jacksonville, FL 37 years ago. Mrs. Thomas was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, home decorating and traveling. She was a person who cared about others and was always willing to give. Survivors include her only child, daughter, Valerie Byrd (Rocky) of Yulee, FL; granddaughters, Kacey King (Andy) of Jacksonville, FL and Erica Knowles (Scott) of Yulee, FL; great grandchildren, Blaine, Brett and Taylor; two step great grandchildren, Stan Knowles and Shaina King; a sister, June Ann Fabio who lives in South Carolina; her beloved dog, Scrapper and two cats, Turbo and Ms. Kitty. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 25 in the Stephens Chapel at Green Pine Funeral Home with Father Jose Kulathinal offciating. Entombment will follow in the Garden of Remembrance Mausoleum in Green Pine Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
