Obituary

WORCESTER___Irene P. (Skowronski) Kirvilaitis, 77, of 52 Country Club Blvd., died Sunday Oct. 12 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, 119 Belmont St. Her husband, Anthony Kirvilaitis, Sr., died May 18, 1999.

She leaves a daughter and son-in-law Maryann I. and Michael F. Roche of Dudley; a sister, Mary Gagnon of Worcester; two grandchildren, Michael F. Roche, II and Stephanie I. E. Roche, her longtime companion, Libro “Larry” Vescera of Worcester and nephews and nieces. A son, Rev. Anthony Kirvilaitis, Jr., of Malden died Jan. 14, 2002. Another son, Joseph Kirvilaitis of Worcester died in 1954. She was also predeceased by two brothers and two sisters, Teddy Skowronski, Edmund Skowronski, Agnes Opacki and Charlotte Ojerholm. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Paul and Mary (Zaborski) Skowronski and lived here all her life.

Mrs. Kirvilaitis worked at Worcester Hahnemann Hospital 30 years and was the Assistant to Quality Assessment when she retired. After retiring she worked part time in the office of Dr. Roland Caron. She was a member of St. Bernards Church, the Worcester Hahnemann Hospital Retirees Association and the AARP. She was a former charter member and 12 year drummer of the Polish National Alliance Drum & Bugle Corps.

The funeral will be held on Thursday Oct. 16 from Henry-Dirsa Funeral Home, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Bernards Church, 228 Lincoln St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Wednesdsay Oct. 15 from 5 to 8 p.m.
