Obituary

Raymond E. Thibeault, Lt. Col., retired, 91, of Thibeault Trail died Saturday at Berkshire Place. He was the beloved husband of Yolande (Cullen) Thibeault. They were happily married for 61 years.

Born in Warwick, Rhode Island, he a son of the late Alga J. and Eva (LaPlante) Thibeault. He had lived in Smithfield and wintered in Florida for over 30 years.

Raymond was a 1936 graduate of LaSalle Academy. He received his BA from the University of Dayton and a Masters Degree from RI College. He was an officer in the US Army for 26 years and a veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam. His last duty was at Providence College where he was an Associate Professor of ROTC from 1962-1965 and in 1965 he was a Special Education Teacher at Nathaniel Greene School in Providence. Upon retirement from the Army, he worked at Providence College from 1965-1975 and was the Director of Career Planning and from 1976-77 was the Resource Coordinator for the Dept. of Education. He was a member of the DAV and the American Legion. He was a volunteer for 10 years at Hillsborough Correction Institution and Sun City Center Ambulance Corp.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Denise Thibeault of Cambridge, MA, Robert Thibeault and his wife, Mary of West Stockbridge, MA, Jean Thibeault of Cranston, Michelle Duhaime and her husband, Paul and Claudette Kuligowski and her husband, Mark, all of Smithfield and Jerome Thibeault and his partner, Peter Smith of Roslindale, MA., six grandchildren, Caitlin, Jake, Chrissy, Matthew, Michael and Caroline. He was the father of the late Jacques Thibeault and the grandfather of the late Nathan McMahon.

A Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be held at Friday at 11:00am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial Private. Visitation respectfully omitted.
