Albert Espindola, 80, of Fairhaven, died Sunday, October 12, 2003, at Alden Court Nursing Care & Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Poirier) Espindola.
Born in New Bedford, October 18, 1922, the son of the late Manuel and Maria (Mondonca) Espindola, he lived in Fairhaven for many years. He was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School, School of Carpentry.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Fairhaven and was a member of the Couples Club.
Mr. Espindola served in the Navy during World War II as a quartermaster.
He was the proprietor of his own business, Espindola & Sons, Inc. of Fairhaven. He was an accomplished carpenter and woodworker.
He was a devoted and loving family man. He was a sports enthusiast and loved gardening and cooking.
Survivors include three sons, Richard Espindola and his wife Nancy of Dartmouth, Steven Espindola and his wife Annemarie of New Bedford and Robert Espindola and his wife Ann of Fairhaven; seven daughters, Beverly Rousseau and her husband Jean, Diane Tapper and her husband Christopher, Marilyn Allaire and her husband Thomas and Tricia Espindola, all of Fairhaven, Janis Steed and her husband Robert of Carver, Susan Breton and her husband Mark of Acushnet and Donna Dwelly of New Bedford; 26 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Elsie Barboza; and many nieces and nephews.He was the grandfather of the late David Rousseau and brother of the late Delphina Espindola, Evelyn Britto and Manuel Espindola.
His Funeral will be held on Wednesday October 15, 2003 at 9:45 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett, followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven at 11 AM. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Rural Cemetery, New Bedford. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday October 14, 2003 from 4-8 PM.
