David L. Johnson, 63

Dateline: Pawtucket, Rhode Island

David L. Johnson, 63, of Pawtucket formerly of Attleboro and Norton passed on Saturday March 20, 2010 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Nancy C. (Norman) Johnson to whom he was wed on October 29, 1969.
Born in Taunton, MA on April 9, 1946 he was the dear son of Marie M. (Yelle) Johnson-Lemieux of Norton and the late Harry Johnson and the late Raymond Lemieux.
David was brought up and educated in the town of Norton. On February 27, 1964 he entered into the United States Army and loyally served his country during the Vietnam Era , stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged on February 10, 1967 with the rank of Sergeant. Years after serving his country, David still often liked to reminisce about the beauties of the country of Germany.
For 30 years and till leaving recently leaving due to illness Mr. Johnson was employed as a factory worker for the Rustoleum Corp. in Attleboro, which formerly operated under the name of Mantrose-Hauser.
David could best be described as a “Free Spirit”. He loved the outdoors and was happiest when riding his Harley-Davidson 1200 Sportster. He enjoyed motorcycling with his friends and weather permitting, could be seen anytime during the course of the year riding. He especially enjoyed visiting his pals at Precision Harley -Davidson in Pawtucket.
His other hobbies included reading, especially books pertaining to WWII, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War and also watching movies of war subject. David also enjoyed gardening and held a special place in his heart for animals. A resident of Pawtucket for the past 10 years, he was a former longtime resident of Attleboro and Norton.
In addition to his beloved wife and dear mother he is survived by his loving aunt Alta Yelle of Norton, many cousins, and his faithful dog “Bailey “and his cat “Smudge”.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend graveside services with military honors to be held on Monday March 29th at 1:00 P.M. at the Norton Center Cemetery, Pine Street, Norton.
