Joan F. Williamson, 76, of North Providence, passed away March 17, 2010 at Rhode Island Hospital, with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Robert K. Williamson. They had been married for 55 years.
Born in Riverside, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Walsh) Plant. She is also survived by her son Robert K. Williamson, Jr. of Chaplin, CT, two daughters Lori J. Dionne of Cranston, Lisa Williamson-Smith of Cape Cod, six grandchildren and her sister Dorothy Weiss of Pennsylvania. She was the sister of the late Margaret Donnelly. She will also be sadly missed by her “pal” Pepper.
Joan was a 1951 graduate of Bay View Academy and Johnson and Wales College. She was a former secretary at Green Acres Preschool, RIGHA- Medical Records Department, volunteered at Our Lady of Fatima and Kent County Hospitals and a CCD instructor at St. Edward’s Church in Providence.
She was a member of the Jolly Fox Camping Group, Fruit Hill Women’s Club and a parishioner of St. Philip Church. She enjoyed bingo, camping, crossword puzzles, swimming and traveling. She was an enthusiastic sports fan of Jeff Gordon, the Pawtucket Red Sox, and the Minnesota Vikings.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 8:30 am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Visitation Monday 5-8 pm.
