Julia "Julie" F. (Tracy) Foley, a resident of East Boston, and former longtime resident of Charlestown, died on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a lengthy illness. She was 75 years old.
Julie was born in Boston on October 16, 1934. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended Boston Public Schools. Julie worked many years at the former Bob's Variety Store at the corners of Elm Street and Bunker Hill Street.
Julie is the wife of the late Gerald W. Foley. She is the devoted mother of Cheryl Foley of East Boston, Michelle Foley of East Boston, William Foley of East Boston and Charlene Spivey of Lufkin, Texas. She is the loving grandmother of Fernando, Caitlin, James, William, Devlin, Kieran, Brighid, the late Amanda Valadez and also her great-grandson; Conor. She is the beloved sister of Frederick Tracy of Lynn, Michael Tracy of Somerville, Alice Spinney of Wakefield, James Tracy of Medford, Arthur Tracy of Rockland the late Richard and Joseph Tracy. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
DUE TO THE DEATH OF CHARLENE'S DAUGHTER AND JULIE'S GRANDAUGHTER AMANDA VALADEZ, WHO PASSED AWAY ON TUESDAY MARCH 16, 2010 IN HOUSTON, TEXAS AFTER A COURAGEOUS BATTLE WITH CANCER, JULIE'S FUNERAL WILL BE HELD FOLLOWING AMANDA'S BURIAL.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Julie's Funeral on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 9 a.m. from the Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m.
