George Hubert Nagles, 71, of Chula died Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 19, 2010, at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Chula. Rev. Terrell Roberts will officiate. Josh Pferrman, Timothy Gray, Thomas Gray, Caleb Stone, Greg McMillan and Jess Mathis will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Sumner, J. E. Sumner, Harold Sumner, James Thompson, Elbert Sumner and Vickers Stone. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 18, 2010, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Nagles was born on January 30, 1939 in Worth County and was the son of Dewey Galvester Nagles and Lettie Lou Gay Nagles, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Vernon “Johnny” Nagles; two sisters, Helen Sumner and Cortez Baker; and one grandson, J. J. Pferrman. He was retired from Tifton Aluminum Company after 28 years and was a member of Tift Avenue Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and loved gardening, hunting and fishing. He had lived in Tift County for 59 years.
Mr. Nagles is survived by his wife of 49 years, Vivian Wiley Nagles of Chula; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Rhonda and Ray Gray of Enigma, Lynne and Jimmy Stone of Tifton and Lisa Nagles of Columbus; three sisters, Dorothy Nagles Shirah of Jacksonville, Florida, Hazel Nagles Bragg of Tifton and Shirley Nagles of Tifton; four grandchildren, Timothy Gray, Thomas Gray, Josh Pferrman and Caleb Stone; and four great grandchildren, Nathan Gray, Blake Pferrman, Nikki Pferrman and Landon Pferrman.
