ROCKINGHAM: Mrs. Inez Gore Oakes, 78, died Saturday, March 13, 2010 in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, March 17, in the Shining Light Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Howard T. Smith and Rev. Joe Wilkes officiating. Interment will follow in Northam Cemetery Extension.
Inez was born in Horry County, SC, on February 2, 1932 to the late Dock and Elizabeth Wright Gore. Prior to her retirement she worked as a Medical Technician. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lee Oakes, and a sister, Laura Graves.
She is survived by a son, Edward L. Oakes, Jr. of Pinehurst; a daughter, Sherrill Malloy of Rockingham; a sister, Pearl Nordenbrook of Alexandria, VA; 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7-9:00 at Russell-Marks Funeral Home.
