WORCESTER-James R. Sullivan, 86, of Worcester died Sunday, March 14th in Radius Health Care. His wife of 60 years Rita L. (Lumb) Sullivan died in 2007. He leaves two sons, James M. Sullivan and his, wife Susan of Oxford and Michael J. Sullivan and his wife, Linda of Rutland; four daughters, Kathleen R. Sullivan of Amenia, NY, Maureen D. Morse and her husband, Peter of Auburn, Judith A. Michalowski and her husband, Robert of Dudley and Eileen M. Lebel of Oklahoma City, OK; a brother, Paul V. Sullivan of Webster; 15 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Two brothers, John and William Sullivan and a sister, Mary Clifford predeceased him.
He was born in Worcester the son of Patrick and Mary (Timothy) Sullivan. Mr. Sullivan was a machinist at Wyman Gordon retiring in 1986. Jim was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran during WWII. He was a member of the Marine detachment on board the heavy cruiser USS Chester in the South Pacific. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Worcester.

The funeral is Wednesday, March 17th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in Saint John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, March 16th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions in Jim’s memory be made to either Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01603 or Radius Health Care, 119 Providence Street, Worcester, MA 01604.
