Mrs. Effie H. McElmurray, 94, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, October 9, 2003, at her home.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M.on Sunday, October 12, 2003, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Dr. Lloyd Stembridge and Rev. Royce Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Turner County. Visitation will be held 7:00 to 9:00 P.M., Saturday evening at Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald.
Mrs. McElmurray was born September 13, 1909 in Turner County, Georgia to the late Monroe J. Harvey and Mary Jane Hobby Harvey. Her husband, Floyd L. McElmurray, of 52 years, preceded her in death. She grew up in Turner County and went to school at Oak Hill School. She was co-owner/operator of McElmurray’s Grocery in Rebecca, Land’s Crossing and Sultana Drive in Fitzgerald. Mrs. McElmurray was one of the oldest members of Arbor Baptist Church and a member and former teacher of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was an avid flower gardener and Pink Lady at Dorminy Medical Center.
Survivors include: 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Leroy and Nancy McElmurray, Rochelle and Ike and Angela McElmurray of Fitzgerald; 2 daughters and sons-in-law: Virginia and Felton Watson, Fitzgerald and Martha and Bill Rucker, Beckley, West Virginia; 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
