Obituary

RAYNHAM – Edward Travers, a longtime Raynham resident, died at Brockton Hospital on March 10, 2010.
The husband for 66 years of Mary (Dukacz) Travers, he was 88 years old.
Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late Antonio and Maria (Simas) Tavares.
Mr. Travers was raised and educated in Taunton, and served in the U.S. Army during WW II.
For many years, together with his wife, he owned and operated Travers Market in East Taunton.
He also worked for Western Auto in Taunton, and was a part-time Raynham police officer until the early seventies.
He later worked as a purchasing agent for LeBaron Foundry of Brockton, retiring at the age of 73.
A communicant of Holy Rosary Church, Ed was happiest simply in the company of his family, where he loved performing magic tricks.
Besides his wife of 66 years, he leaves a son, Edward J. Travers, II and his wife Debi of E. Taunton; two daughters, Jayne Champagne of Raynham, and Nancy Claiborne of Taunton; five grandchildren, Gary Rioux, Marie Williams, Eddy Travers III, Carrie Champagne, and Kristen Claiborne; and one great grandchild, Trinity Williams. His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Tuesday, March 16th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Holy Rosary Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 15th from 4 to 7 p.m.
