TAUNTON – Emelia “Emma” (Machado) Amaral, wife of James C. Amaral, died at Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton on March 9, 2010.
She was 82.
Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Francisco and Rosa (Placia) Machado.
Mrs. Amaral was raised and educated in Taunton, and was a 1944 graduate of Taunton High School.
A homemaker for most of her adult life, she was also the co-owner/operator of Amaral Cleaning Service, which she ran with her husband and children for many years, before retiring in 1990.
Mrs. Amaral was a communicant of St. Nicholas of Myra Church in North Dighton, and enjoyed cooking, playing cards, listening to music, and was an avid Red Sox fan.
She was happiest when in the company of her family.
Besides her husband of Taunton, she leaves two sons, Keith J. Amaral of Conway, AR, and Eric J. Amaral and his wife Trish of Taunton; two daughters, Diane L. Santos and her husband Ace, and Debra A. Bradbury-Butts and her husband Mike, all of Taunton; two sisters, Margaret Botellio and Linda Perry, both of Taunton; seven grandchildren, Melissa Rezendes, Sean, Rachel and Kerrin Bradbury, and Nicole, Joshua, and Justin Amaral; five great grandchildren, Chelsea and Michael Rezendes, Casey Bradbury, and Madison and Adriana Amaral; a special niece, Dolores Raposa of Taunton; and several additional nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Manuel Machado, Rose Albuquerque-Lima, Madeline Bousquet, and Mary Roma.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass at St. Nicholas of Myra Church, North Dighton on Saturday, March 13th at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Private Calling Hours will be held at the the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Friday, March 12th from 6 to 8 p.m.
