Obituary

Worcester - William W. White, fondly known as "The Gentleman" died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at the age of 88. He was born in Worcester, beloved son of Myron and Marie L. (Johnson) White. He was a graduate of Commerce High and member of All Saints Church. Bill worked for nearly 50 years at the Worcester Telegram & Gazette. He started delivering the T & G as a kid during the Depression. He was drafted into the Army during WWII and served in the Pacific Theater with the 7th Air Corps Squadron. After the war, Bill came back home and worked at the T & G until retiring from the position of Zone Manager in 1990. He was the state chairman of the Massachusetts Council of Young Republican Clubs and later the chairman of the Ward 10 Republican Committee. He loved Cape Cod where he enjoyed fishing, the ocean, and his West Yarmouth summerhouse.

Bill is survived by his cousins, Sandra and Ray Marchetti of Framingham and Peter Holmes of New Hampshire; his Godchild, Bonnie Lavoie of Holliston; and numerous friends.

Calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester, Sunday, March 14, from 5-8 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at All Saints Church, 10 Irving Street, Worcester, Monday, March 15, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham MA 01701.
