Obituary

Mart R. Wicker, age 79, born in Harold, Kentucky, moved to Douglas in 1988, he passed away on Friday, March 5, 2010 at his home, following an extended illness. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 09, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with Rev. Chip Woodruff officiating. A taped selection of music was provided by family, “Amazing Grace”, “Beulah Land” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain”. Graveside services with guitar solo by Jeffrey Fyffe and interment was held at Douglas City Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Tim Wicker, Jr., Ronald Wicker, Jeffery Fyffe, Evan Fyffe, Mathew Lemons, Dalton Rogriquez. . He was preceded in death by wife, Carrie Hall Wicker, parents, Claude Marvin and Melvina Harper Wicker, one brother, four sisters and two grandchildren and one great grandson. Survivors for Mr. Wicker were: daughters, Mary (Tommy) Caldwell, Tammy (Larry) Chestnut, Ammie (Jose) Espitia; sons: Jimmy (Connie) Wicker, William (Karen) Wicker, Stacy (Connie) Wicker, George (Anita) Wicker, Clinton (Angel) Wicker, Calvin Wicker, Johnny (Melinda) Wicker, sister: Mandy (Randolph) Bartley; 19 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews and other relatives. Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
