Dorothy F. Allwood

TEWKSBURY - Dorothy F. (Dicker) Allwood, age 88, a resident of Tewksbury for the past 56 years, died Sunday at the Winchester Hospital in Winchester following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Arthur F. Allwood, who died in 1985.
She was born in Charlestown, February 16, 1922, a daughter of the late Frank and Clara (Lucia)) Dicker, and was raised in Charlestown, where she graduated from Charlestown High School. She moved to Tewksbury in 1953.
Prior to retirement, she worked in electronic assembly at the Sylvania Company in Woburn.
She was active at St. William's Parish, as a member of the Couples Club, the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality, and was a regular attendee at Friday Night Bingo.
She enjoyed watching Boston's professional sports, especially the Red Sox and the Patriots.
She is survived by four children, Joan Derr and her husband William of Grand Rapids, MI, Arthur F. Allwood Jr., and his wife Susan (Herndobler) of LaPorte, IN, Janet Giles of Durham, NC, and Ruth Rene and her husband Paul of Plaistow, NH; fourteen grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Trayers and her husband Paul of Quincy; a brother, Charles Dicker and his wife Ruth of No. Andover; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also sister of the late Ruth Colton, Francis Dicker, John "Jack" Dicker, Arthur Dicker, and Donald Dicker.
Her Funeral Mass was held Wednesday, March 10, in St. William's Church, Tewksbury. Burial was in Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to the Winchester Hospital Foundation, 611 Main St. Winchester, MA 01890
