
William C. Poirier Jr., age 83, of Wilmington, passed away March 6th, at the Atrium at Drum Hill Assisted Living in No. Chelmsford, following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Virginia O. (Kinney). Born in Greenfield, MA he was the son of the late William C. and Doris W. (Greene) Poirier.
Mr. Poirier was a Wilmington resident for most of his life. He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII and honorably served form 1945 to 1946. Following his honorable discharge from the Army he began working for the B&M Railroad where he was employed for the next 16 years. He then began his career with the Polaroid Corp. as a Mechanical Engineer where he would eventually retire from following 26 years of employment. Over the years Mr. Poirier was very involved in the Wilmington community. He volunteered for the Wilmington Community Fund and was also a member of the Wilmington Grange.
In addition to his beloved wife, Mr. Poirier is predeceased by his sister, the late Dorothy Forgeron, and his brother, the late Robert Poirier. He is survived by his three sons, William C. Poirier of Salem, NH, Bruce A. Poirier and his wife Judith of Hopkinton, NH, Robin W. Poirier and his wife Joanne of Winchendon. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Eric, Jeff, Matthew, David and Rebecca Poirier.
A Funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Wednesday, March 10th, at 10 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held Tuesday from 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
